Stripping tank MW610-B for the cold stripping of wheels

Stripping

Cold stripping: from 20 minutes per wheel, without heating.

We have tested all the well-known stripping agents in our own workshop: too slow, harmful to health, attacking aluminium or needing replacement several times a year, plus expensive heating and circulation. The cold stripping agent we use today and sell exclusively solves these problems. We developed the matching tank ourselves.

  • from 20 minstripping time per wheel
  • 610 lcapacity of the MW610-B
  • up to 24"wheel size

The system

The system at a glance

  • Tank designed for cold stripping

V4A stainless steel, V-shape with sludge channel, integrated lifting system with cover. No heating, no circulation.

  • High-speed stripping agent

Extremely short stripping times from 20 minutes per wheel. Above-average service life: replenishing only, no replacement.

  • Automated cleaning

Diaphragm pump and filter system cleans the bath. Once dried, the stripping sludge is not chemical waste.

  • Measuring system included

With the first delivery you receive a free measuring system for determining concentration via specific gravity. No sampling, no shipping to the manufacturer.

  • Significantly lower costs

Without a heated tank and circulation, operating costs fall; the tank costs a fraction of conventional solutions.

  • Low odour

The tank cover prevents odour and evaporation of the base.

The process

How cold stripping works

  1. 01

    Mixing

Fill the tank with 78% base (Master Stripper A) and 22% activator (Master Stripper B). The usage chart shows the steps to the optimum concentration.

  2. 02

    Immersing

Lower the wheels with the lifting system and close the cover. Depending on the existing coating, 4 wheels are stripped after 20 minutes to 2 hours.

  3. 03

    Lifting and rinsing

Lift the wheels with the cable winch and rinse off the paint residue. The dried paint sludge (e.g. in a slag bin with sieve) goes into household waste.

  4. 04

    Measuring and replenishing

If the effect diminishes, top up the base to the fill level and use the measuring system to check whether activator or highly concentrated beads are needed. The bath does not need replacing for years, only desludging and replenishing.

Quantities and containers: the logic of the stripping calculator

From the required fill volume in litres, the calculator works out the quantities of base and activator and the recommended number of containers, optionally with the stripping tank MW610-B and compressed-air diaphragm pump system.

QuantityRuleExample 610 l (MW610-B)
Base share78% of the fill volume; 1 kg base = 0.8 laround 476 l, i.e. around 595 kg Master Stripper A
Activator share22% of the fill volume; 1 kg activator = 1 laround 134 l, i.e. around 134 kg Master Stripper B
Base containersDrum of 280 kg, rounded up to full containers3 drums
Activator containersCanister of 25 kg, rounded up to full containers6 canisters
ReplenishingRule of thumb: after around 1,000 wheels approx. 100 kg base and 25 kg activator1 canister of activator, base from the drum

The worked example follows the rules of the calculator (78/22, kg/l conversion, rounding up to full containers). Binding quantities and prices are stated in the quote.

Capacity and consumption in practice

Experience with the 610-litre tank: 24 wheels per 8-hour shift (6 runs of 4 wheels). Around 1,000 wheels in 40 working days, i.e. about two months, before replenishing is needed (approx. 100 kg base and 25 kg activator).

Consumption when idle: the base contains dichloromethane with a vapour pressure of 470 hPa at 20 °C and 701 hPa at 30 °C. Ten degrees more can increase evaporation by 50%, which is why the cover is indispensable.

Safety and accessories

Safety and handling

  • Enclosed rooms

Use in enclosed rooms is possible with ventilation and personal protective equipment.

  • Protective equipment

Full-face mask with filter system and protective clothing. A list of the equipment is available on request.

  • Disposal

Dried paint residue goes into household waste. Disposal via a waste disposal company is only necessary if you actually want to dispose of the bath.

  • No special tank needed

Businesses switching from hot stripping continue to use existing tanks without heating and circulation. An approved container with a closable lid is recommended.

Accessories

For tank and bath

  • Concentration measurement (measuring system) for cold stripping agents, free with the first delivery
  • Bag filter housing for stripping system MW610
  • Compressed-air diaphragm pump system
  • Usage chart for concentration management

Replenishment

  • Master Stripper A, base, drum 280 kg
  • Master Stripper B, activator, canister 25 kg
  • Highly concentrated beads for replenishing

Questions before buying

How often does the bath need replacing?

Not for years. The bath is desludged and replenished, not replaced.

How do I check its effectiveness?

With the supplied measuring system via specific gravity and the usage chart. If the effect diminishes, top up the base to the fill level, then measure whether activator or highly concentrated beads are needed.

Does the agent attack aluminium?

No. It is methylene chloride based with alkaline activators. Keep immersion times short for magnesium wheels, not overnight or over the weekend. Steel and stainless steel parts are also possible.

Does stripping also work in cold rooms?

From +12 °C. Tested at −15 °C, only marginally slower.

How long does stripping take?

It depends on the existing coatings. 4 wheels are typically stripped after 20 minutes to 2 hours.

Is the cover really necessary?

Yes, the base evaporates. The cover prevents evaporation and odour.
